Magician’s Brainstorming Funnies
August 10th, 2010Acting Up at The Magic Circle
August 9th, 2010Tonight was the most fun I’ve had in years at The Magic Circle. A friend of mine is a terrific actor who also performs close up magic on the side and tonight he was hosting an acting workshop for members. I used to love drama and at 6th form I really fancied being an actor but I was too damn lazy to push as hard as you need to tonight was great. I got to dip my toe back into acting classes without having to commit to being a tree for a couple of years.
Wedding Magician @ Holiday Inn, Camberley, Surrey
August 7th, 2010After I finished doing wizardly wonders at the Potter wrap party I hopped in the car to go to Camberley, Surrey to perform at a wedding. Some very nice people at the wedding which made a long day of magic much better.
Harry Potter Magician
August 7th, 2010This afternoon folks I was at Leavesden Studios, Watford with a couple of the other top magicians in London entertaining the cast and crew at the wrap party for the Harry Potter series of films. Now this may come as a surprise to you but I’ve never seen any Harry Potter films or read any books because I’m not a kid. I know some people love Harry and assume I’ll like it because I’m a magician but it has nothing to do with the magic I like. We did get to see sets for the upcoming films but photography was completely banned I’m afraid. I did manage to get a few snaps of me with some props/iconic things which mean nothing to me but by all accounts are a big deal to all the Potter aficionados.
Magicians, Mindreader and Legends
August 5th, 2010Yesterday was a bunch of fun as I was hanging out with tip top London magicians, mind readers, playwrights, creative consultants, TV producers and legends. OK, I sexed it up a bit as one man covers quite a few of those titles. Andy Nyman is the man behind Derren Brown and acts as producer for the live shows as well as creative consultant for the telly stuff and if that wasn’t enough he recently co-created Ghost Stories which has been a smash hit horror drama on the London stage. The afternoon soirée was organised by the main man, the legend himself David Berglas who is the most well respected magician/mindreader in the world with a career spanning over 60 years with TV shows in a host of countries.
I finished the day with “One Night in Paris” which is highly recommended.
Rochester Magic Filming
August 2nd, 2010Last night I took another trip to Rochester, Kent for a magic DVD performance for another magic product. It was good fun watching the close up magic and mindreading for a well attended audience. Some great routines from the performers who were enchanted by the magic. A magician friend of mine dropped me back to his house and then I battled through the night time nutters in central London.
House of Illusion Magic Show in Salou, Spain
August 1st, 2010Sorry folks, don’t worry I haven’t dropped off the planet but in the last week I’ve been in Salou, Spain on a holiday/part magic convention jolly with some magicians friends. Whilst we were there we took in The House of Illusion Show which is a fun magic show full of illusion, close up magic, comedy-ish, mindreading, firebreathing and a bunch of other cool things. If you are in or near Salou then make a pit stop to watch Sylvester and the gang take you on a magical trip over hundreds of years of magic history right up to the present day 1950′s.
Magicians Setting the World Right
July 20th, 2010Few drinky-poos tonight in a pub opposite Waterloo Station, London with another magician comparing our war stories of the last few days and reviews of the various magic things we’ve seen recently.
Magician’s Teaching DVD Taping in Rochester, Kent
July 18th, 2010Today me and some magician friends took a trip to Rochester, Kent to see a magician friend performing for a new magic DVD to be released at Christmas. It was a fun evening and even though things didn’t go completely smoothly I’m sure everybody had a good time. If you’ve ever been to a TV show taping it’s much the same thing in that it’s part show but occasionally things need to be redone fo any number of reasons. The only scummy bit of the evening was the drive home from Rochester dropping off my buddies in various destinations taking me in the opposite direction of my bed.
